Ethan's research background is in network security, distributed systems, peer-to-peer networks, cryptocurrency, and cryptology. For the past several years he has worked on building the future of authentication with OpenPubkey. He is especially fond of hash function cryptanalysis and participated in the SHA-3 selection contest where he broke one hash function and increased the security of MD6.
He has a PhD from Boston University.
